How to Get a Body like Celeb Trainer Simone De La Rue
Simone De La Rue has been training for her current career since she was a young girl. At just the age of three she was a classically-trained ballerina, who continued to dance professionally for two decades. Since retiring, the Australian-native celebrity trainer has taken her dancing background and married it with her expertise of fitness, bringing us three Body By Simone (BBS) studios in Los Angeles and NYC. Her Body by Simone app, and collection of books, including "Body by Simone: The 8-Week Total Body Makeover Plan" are great ways to keep fit in the comfort of your own home. Or, if you're fan of E!'s Revenge Body, you can jot down notes as she helps people transform their bodies (and lives).
Simone took a few sets from our latest Athluxury collection and put them to work as she shared business advice, workout tips, and what has her feeling most BOSS in life.

What are 3 workout moves you recommend to women who have super busy schedules?
I always tell my clients you can get a workout in no matter how much time or equipment you have. The three moves I’ll tell my clients they can fit into any day are...
1. Plyometrics - these are great multitasking exercise, not only are you developing strength but you’re getting your cardio fix at the same time, my favorite plyo is the squat jump.
2. My favorite core exercise is the good old fashioned plank. when done correctly this is an incredible full-body exercise that incorporates the chest, shoulders, core and lower body.
3. Now being a Mother, I appreciate the difficulty in finding time for yourself, I now use my 10-month-old son Oscar (who weights 23 pounds) as my weight for weighted swats and overhead press. Bonding with my baby and getting my workout in at the same time.
You set a very mindful fitness plan for yourself when you were pregnant. What gave you the best (and most fulfilling) results during that time?
Throughout my pregnancy I stayed in tune with my body and those days where I was feeling strong, I worked out at my usual intensity, and the days I was feeling tired and lethargic, I practiced self-love and nurtured my body with rest.
You were a classical dancer before starting BBS, what do you miss most from that time in your life? What did you learn most back then?
I miss the camaraderie of the dressing room and the joy of performance. I credit my ballet training for my discipline, dedication, and ambition. With Dance, there’s always room for improvement so it encourages you to constantly be striving to be your best and work overtime to achieve your goals.
BBS has become a highly successful business, and it’s continuously growing. What are the brand values you stay true to?
The biggest thing we always say in the Studio is to leave your ego at the door, it about creating a safe, supportive environment for women to feel free, move their bodies, and become the best version of themselves. We stay true to community, nonjudgmental support, and keeping it joyous.
Although your “days off” are probably limited, what’s your favorite thing to do in your down time?
I love spending time with my beautiful son Oscar. Motherhood has really changed my priorities and there’s nothing better than spending a day adventuring with him.
Tell us your version of a “cheat day”.
I don’t have cheat days. My philosophy is to create a healthy, sustainable lifestyle that you love and don’t need to ‘cheat’ from. I focus on mainly eating fresh produce and unprocessed homemade meals, and then when my sweet tooth kicks in I have some chocolate (which I love) and move on with my day.
What’s the best business advice you can give us?
To lead with your instinct. I didn’t go to Business school, every decision I made came from my desire to serve and help women and my gut instinct of how to deliver that. Keeping a clear intention for the Business and not being afraid to fail forward were incredibly important when I started out.
What’s your favorite life advice to give?
Say yes to life.
When do you feel most BOSS?
When I’m working hard and Oscar has come to set with me. I want to be a great role model for him and show him how you can work hard and achieve your dreams. I feel most empowered when I’m able to pass that on to him and lead from example.
