The Glute Routine Keeping Kim K on Top
Amanda Lee wants you to be fit, not skinny, and if a poppin’ booty is part of the plan, she has you covered there too. As the go-to trainer for Kim and Kourtney Kardashian, Amanda’s influence in how we exercise is apparent via her 12+ million followers on Instagram and the development of multiple best-selling e-books on her website. The former dancer's approach to fitness is designed to maximize the beautiful bodies women are already working with—playing into curves, sculpting your shape, and making her clients strong and healthy along the way. Here’s how she does it.

“Most of my clients’ goals are to lift and tighten their booty as well as tone and flatten their abs,” Amanda explains, “so I don’t really believe in cardio. I prefer HIIT (high intensity integral training) and fast paced circuit training. I keep things fun but constantly switching up the routines so that the client, as well as the muscles, don’t get bored. This is one of the most important rules of training.” This goes for how she trains Kim and Kourtney, alternating between lower body sessions and total body sessions with the girls. Squat and lunge variations, step-ups, leg-presses, donkey-kicks, and deadlifts are integral parts of lower body days, and key for the round, muscular bottom Amanda is known for helping women develop. “I love supersets, which means working the same muscle group in back to back sets,” she continues. “Some of my favorites are heavy squats followed by jump- squats, or dead lifts followed by single leg hamstring curls. You will feel a serious burn!”
Total body workout days will also include burpees, squats, lunges, pushups and a ton of core work. For Kim, Amanda does a combo of HIIT and intense circuit training, typically focusing on legs, glutes, and abs. Kourtney’s four-to-five day workout plan has her total body workouts broken up by lower and upper body days. “Kim and Kourt both see great results by staying consistent and pushing themselves. They never cancel or miss a session!” says Amanda.
What her clients find most appealing about Amanda, aside from her fun and judgement-free approach as a trainer, is the fact that her sessions are proven to work, and she has the body to prove it. “I was never a natural athlete or genetically fit person. I didn’t play sports or cheerlead in high school. I started out a skinny 98lbs girl, and was able to achieve curves and a healthy, strong physique through training,” she explains. Amanda has put in the work herself to figure out what is realistic and most effective, and that’s what she integrates into the routines for her clients. “I think my approach is unique because I’ve done it myself, so I know what works.”
