Model Ariadna Gutiérrez Believes in the Power of Affirmations
It’s not every day you get to hang out with Miss Colombia 2014, so when Ariadna Gutiérrez invited us over on a typical, gorgeous Miami afternoon, we headed right over, eager to learn more about the Colombian native. Represented by Elite Miami, Ariadna has been modeling since she was a teenager, and has recently added actress to her résumé (xXx: Return of Xander Cage, Celebrity Big Brother). On her Insta, she shares fitness routines, skincare rituals, travel snaps, outfits-of-the-day, and her latest career milestones. She's booked, busy, and as boss, as they come. We needed every tip she could share on how she approaches life, and lucky for us, Ari was game.
What's going on in your life right now? What are you currently passionate about?
I’m most passionate about building my career, as long as I follow a very strong passion for spirituality and self-growth.
How and when did you know you wanted to get into modeling?
I remember dreaming about being a model since I was a little girl growing up in Colombia. I will never forget the hours that I’d spend watching fashion shows from my favorite designers without even really knowing much about the industry, and looking up to my favorite supermodels as well.
What are some of your favorite experiences you’ve had in modeling and acting?
Probably one of my favorite experiences I’ve had due to modeling has definitely been the possibility to travel around the world to wonderful dreamy places. It’s been a dream come true, to experience knowing new people, new cultures. And of course, the experience to being able to work on a movie set with actors that I fan over like Vin Diesel in the movie xXx: Return of Xander Cage. That was unbelievable!!! Also, the fact of being able to work with such professionals who I get to meet and learn a lot from.
What’s next for you in your career?
There is a lot happening. I've been working with modeling and traveling non-stop. I’m so thankful for that. But I would love to start an entrepreneurial path with my own brand. And I hope to be able to share with all of you very soon.
You practice positive affirmations and seem to have a firm grasp on health and wellness. Can you share some tips with us that you’d recommend we practice daily?
It is true. Positive affirmations have changed my life for the better, since I discovered them, in an incredible way. I use my affirmations daily for everything: for new jobs, when I wake up, when I go to bed, and I share them with everybody around me. I keep repeating them until my mind is set to positive vibes. And it’s worked wonders. I truly believe in the power of affirmations! Everybody should try them.
We’d love to hear about your home country, Colombia, and how growing up there has influenced you as an adult.
I was lucky enough to be born in Colombia, a wonderful country which helped build the person that I am. Of course, with my parents' way of raising us, I grew up loving my country. Especially being a public figure in Colombia, you can definitely feel the love of a country that backs you up and wants to support your career. It is really a nice feeling to have millions of Colombians make you feel warm and welcome. Colombians are characterized by being warm, loving, welcoming, happy, and I am from the coast (Costeña). We are identified as being one of the happiest people on earth. Our culture is filled with great family values, respect, and hard-working motivation for a better future. That has been one of the biggest influences now as a working adult.
How long have you been vegan, and what made you become one?
I became a vegan after I did Big Brother and seeing my dad sick. He died of cancer last year. I believe we need to nurture our bodies and take care of what goes into it. And since becoming a vegan, I feel healthier and more energized. I recommend it highly.
What drives crazy, and what hypes you up?
My inspiration has always been my family. They are my driving force. To remember where I come from is so important. I strive for a better future for myself and for them. My success is their success.
Tell us what you love to do on your days off…
I love being with my family relaxing at home, surrounded by the people I love. I love to exercise. But I love going to the beach and just be peaceful. Being able to eat my fave foods, that’s also something I love. Basically, doing the simplest things in life is what I love the most.
When do you feel the most BOSS?
Well, I think that I feel the most boss is when I take the reins of my life to build a better future, but at the same time, I enjoy the present because I set my mind that what I am doing in the now is what is building my future. The past is the past. The future is not here, we are building it. I feel the most boss when I am working towards that.
