Resume Recap: Gail Federici
Gail Federici is the woman behind a beauty empire, and she has her frizzy hair to thank. That, and her relentless spirit and full-on approach to solving problems (part creative, thanks to her mother, and part analytical, from her father). Gail got her start as a founding member of the brand John Frieda, the affordable but effective collection of haircare that brought favorites like Frizz Ease Serum to our local drugstore. Her next big beauty launch came with Color Wow, another brand with the intention of solving women’s hair woes, in this case, visible roots in between salon visits. Products like the Color Wow Dream Coat anti-humidity treatment and Root Cover Up powder quickly garnered the industry’s attention, even solidifying Chris Appleton, stylist to Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez, as a brand ambassador.
Gail’s road as a boss of the beauty world took time, patience and determination—plus "a good work ethic, a sense of fairness and a non-defeatist attitude,” as she puts in. “In general, I’m an optimist and believe there’s almost always a way to get to where you want to go. I hope that my story helps women to not be afraid to take risks, not to self-limit, and to have faith that where there’s a will there’s a way.” What would the professional resume of such an industry legend look like?
